हे कृष्ण! अधर्म के प्रबल होने से कुल की स्त्रियाँ दूषित हो जाती हैं, और हे वार्ष्णेय! स्त्रियों के दूषित होने पर वर्णसंकर उत्पन्न होता है।
Deep Reflection
गहन चिंतन
Arjuna continues tracing consequences:
When dharma dissolves, protection dissolves. When protection dissolves, the vulnerable suffer.
This verse reflects ancient social concerns about war's devastation on communities.
The Psychology of War's Impact on Society
Whatever we think of Arjuna's specific social framework, his underlying observation stands: war devastates civil society.
When men die in war, families are destroyed. Children grow up without guidance. The social fabric tears.
Arjuna is naming what happens after battles are won.
Protection Systems Fail
In Arjuna's time, social order meant protection. When that order breaks, the most vulnerable suffer most.
This isn't a defense of any particular order. It's recognition that disorder often harms those least able to protect themselves.
Generational Consequences
"Varṇa-saṅkara"—confused social order, disrupted lineage. The next generation inherits the chaos.
Children born into war don't inherit stable structures. They inherit confusion, trauma, and breakdown. The consequences extend beyond those who fight.
Reading Ancient Texts
This verse uses categories that feel uncomfortable today. Ancient social structures had their limits and injustices.
Arjuna's concern—that war destroys communities beyond the battlefield—remains valid even if his specific categories don't translate directly.
Why Multiple Arguments Reveal Deep Resistance
Arjuna is piling argument upon argument. Each verse adds another reason not to fight.
Sometimes when we really don't want to do something, we generate reason after reason. The volume of arguments reveals the depth of reluctance.
Krishna will need to address not just logic but the fear underneath.
What This Means for You
व्यावहारिक ज्ञान
Consider consequences on the vulnerable. Your decisions affect people who had no say in them.
Order provides protection. Before destroying systems, consider who depends on them.
Today's actions shape tomorrow's world. Generational thinking matters.
Multiple arguments may signal deeper resistance. When you generate reason after reason, look for what's beneath.
Live With It

When a company collapses, the CEO often has a golden parachute. It's the administrative assistants, the cleaners, the junior staff who lose their livelihoods.
Arjuna asks: "What happens to the women? What happens to the families?" He is looking at the people who have no voice in the war council but who will pay the highest price.
In your own conflicts—divorce, office politics, family feuds—look at the Collateral Damage. You might be strong enough to survive the fight. But what about your children? Your team? Your elderly parents?
The strong make the decisions. The vulnerable bear the consequences. Arjuna pauses to look at them. Before you start a war, look at the people who can't fight back.
A Question to Sit With
चिंतन के लिए प्रश्न
"Who would be most affected by a major decision you're considering—and do they have a voice?"
