The great generals who have highly esteemed your name and fame will think that you have left the battlefield out of fear only, and thus they will consider you insignificant.

और जिनकी दृष्टि में तू बहुमान को प्राप्त था वे महारथी लोग तुझे भय के कारण युद्ध से हटा हुआ मानेंगे और तू उनकी दृष्टि में लघुता को प्राप्त होगा।
Deep Reflection
गहन चिंतन
The Narrative You Can't Control.
Arjuna thinks: "They will understand. They will see my compassion." Krishna says: "No. They will see your Fear."
Bhayat Ranat Uparatam = Withdrew from battle out of Fear.
This is the brutal truth of public perception. You judge yourself by your intentions. The world judges you by your actions. And your action (retreating) looks exactly like cowardice.
The "Maharathas" (Great Generals)
Drona. Bhishma. Karna. These are the peers Arjuna respects.
If he runs, they won't say: "Oh, look at noble Arjuna, practicing non-violence." They will say: "He panicked."
They will downgrade him from a Rival to a Joke. "Yasyasi Laghavam" = You will become lightweight/insignificant.
Perception is Reality
In the heat of battle (or business, or life), nobody reads your diary. They only see your output.
If you quit the project when it gets hard, the narrative is "He couldn't hack it." You can argue "No, I had moral objections!" all you want. The label "Quitter" sticks faster than the explanation.
Losing Your Seat at the Table
Arjuna is currently a "Bahu-mata" (High-value person). The moment he flees, his value drops to zero.
You take years to build credibility. You can lose it in 10 minutes of visible weakness. Krishna asks: "Are you ready to be irrelevant?"
The Enemy's Logic
Why would the enemy analyze your complex emotions? It's easier for them to assume you are weak. It boosts their morale.
By leaving, you don't just hurt yourself; you help the enemy. You validate their belief that you were never that tough to begin with.
Controlling the Story
The only way to control the narrative is to STAY in the arena.
If you fight and die, you are a martyr. If you fight and win, you are a hero. If you run, you are a joke.
Krishna shows Arjuna that his "Compassion" will be rebranded as "Cowardice" instantly.
What This Means for You
व्यावहारिक ज्ञान
Don't rely on being "understood." People rarely understand nuance. They see results.
Perception matters. It shouldn't rule you, but you can't ignore it. Don't give critics easy ammunition.
Stay in the paint. The only way to prove you aren't scared is to stand your ground.
Live With It

The Empty Chair (The Best Man's Silence).
It's your best friend's wedding. You are the Best Man/Maid of Honor. You have to give a speech. A Toast.
You are terrified of public speaking. The moment comes. The MC says your name. "And now, a few words!" Applause.
But you are not there. You are in the bathroom, splashing water on your face. Panic attack. "I can't do it. I'll faint."
You stay in the bathroom for 20 minutes. Outside, the applause dies down. The confusion starts. "Where is he?" "Did he bail?"
Eventually, someone else makes an awkward toast. The moment passes.
When you finally walk out, you see the look in your friend's eyes. It's not anger. It's pity. And disappointment.
The "Maharathas" (The inner circle) know you ran from fear. You are "Laghavam" (Diminished) in their eyes.
You can never undo that Empty Chair. Better to faint on stage while trying, than to be safe in the bathroom while hiding.

"Whose respect would you lose if you walked away from your challenge right now?"
