Deep Reflection
गहन चिंतन
The Definition of Yoga.
Most people think Yoga is twisting your body on a mat. Krishna defines Yoga differently: Samatvam Yoga Ucyate. Yoga = Equanimity. It is the art of keeping your mind level (Sama) regardless of the terrain of life.
Yoga-sthah Kuru Karmani
First establish yourself in Yoga (Yoga-sthah), THEN act (Kuru Karmani). Usually, we act first and try to find balance later (after we burn out). Krishna says: Find your center first. Anchor yourself in inner peace. Then go to war. Action coming from silence is powerful. Action coming from noise is chaotic.
Siddhy-Asiddhyoh Samo Bhutva
"Equal in Success (Siddhi) and Failure (Asiddhi)." This is the litmus test of your Yoga. If success makes you arrogant and failure makes you depressed, you are not a Yogi. You are a yo-yo. A Yogi treats success and failure as "imposters" (as Kipling said). They are just feedback.
Samatvam (Evenness of Mind)
Imagine a suspension system in a car. The wheels go up and down over potholes (ups and downs of life). But the chassis (the passenger) stays relatively smooth. Samatvam is your internal suspension system. The world shakes; you stay steady.
Dhananjaya (Winner of Wealth)
Krishna calls Arjuna "Dhananjaya" (Conqueror of Wealth). He is reminding him: "You have conquered external wealth before. Now conquer the internal wealth (Equanimity)." External wealth comes and goes. Internal wealth (Samatvam) is yours forever.
Yoga is Mental, not Physical
Here, Yoga is clearly defined as a state of mind. It is the psychology of the victors. The athlete who chokes under pressure lacks "Samatvam." The one who performs in the finals exactly as they did in practice has "Samatvam."
What This Means for You
व्यावहारिक ज्ञान
Check your baseline. When things go wrong today, watch your reaction. That is your Yoga meter.
Don't get high on success. If you let the praise in to your head, you have to let the criticism in to your heart. Keep the doors shut to both.
Prioritize State over Action. Get your mind right (Yoga-sthah) before you send that email or start that meeting.

The Jeep on the Mountain Road.
You are driving an old Jeep on a brutal mountain pass in the Himalayas. The road is non-existent. It's just craters, mud, and sharp rocks.
SCENARIO A: No Suspension. Your car has rigid axles and no shocks. Every time you hit a pebble, your spine jars. Your teeth rattle. When you hit a pothole, your head bangs the roof. By mile 5, you are physically broken. You are screaming at the road. You hate the journey.
SCENARIO B: High-End Off-Road Suspension. You hit the same massive rock. The wheels move up and down violently—maybe 2 feet of travel. But the Cabin (where You sit) just feels a gentle, rhythmic sway.
You glide over the chaos. You actually enjoy the drive. "Wow, look at that view."
Life is the mountain road. The "Bumps" are guaranteed. Today, you will get a rude email. You will spill your coffee on your white shirt. A deal will fall through.
If you have no shocks (Attachment), every bump breaks you. If you have shocks (Samatvam), you absorb the impact.
The wheels (your senses) deal with the bumpy reality. But the Cabin (your Soul) remains level.
"Ah, a pothole. Interesting." Keep the passenger smooth, no matter how rough the terrain.
