The embodied soul may be restricted from sense enjoyment, though the taste for sense objects remains. But, ceasing such engagements by experiencing a higher taste, he is fixed in consciousness.

Deep Reflection
गहन चिंतन
The Problem with Willpower.
This is a masterclass in addiction psychology. Krishna says: You can starve the senses ("Nira-harasya" - No food). You can go on a diet. You can do "Dry January." But... the Taste ("Rasa") remains. The physical craving stops, but the mental scrolling continues. As soon as the restriction is lifted, you binge.
How to truly kill the addiction? Param Drishtva = By seeing the Higher. You only drop the toy when you see the Diamond. The Higher Taste replaces the Lower Taste.
Vishaya Vinivartante (Senses turn away)
You can force your senses away. You can lock the phone. You can empty the fridge. This is "Behavior Modification." It is effective, but temporary. The "Dehina" (Embodied one) is still suffering the withdrawal.
Rasa-Varjam (Taste Remains)
Rasa is the subtle residue of pleasure. Examples: - The smoker who quit 5 years ago but still loves the smell of smoke. - The ex-lover who you blocked but still stalk in your mind. This "Rasa" is dangerous. It is a sleeping seed waiting for rain.
Param Drishtva Nivartate
"Seeing the Supreme, the taste ceases." When you taste the joy of Meditation/Self (Param), the joy of Netflix (Alpam) feels cheap. You don't STOP watching because it's "bad." You stop because it's BORING compared to the Bliss you found. Renunciation becomes natural, not forced.
Crowding Out vs. Cutting Out
Don't just cut out the bad habits (Vacancy). Crowd them out with good habits (Occupancy). If you empty the cup, air (craving) fills it. If you fill the cup with milk (Wisdom), there is no room for air.
The Upgrade
Spiritual life is an Upgrade. We are trading copper for gold. We think we are "giving up" so much. Krishna laughs: "You are giving up dirt to get diamonds. Why are you crying?"
What This Means for You
व्यावहारिक ज्ञान
Don't rely on Willpower. Willpower is a battery; it runs out. Rely on "Better Options."
Find a Higher Joy. If you want to quit scrolling, find a hobby that lights you up. If you want to quit junk food, learn to cook delicious healthy food.
Respect the Rasa. Don't be arrogant. Know that the old addiction is still lurking. Keep your eyes on the Param.

The Dry Drunk vs. The Happy Sober.
You are a recovering alcoholic. You haven't had a drink in 5 years. You walk into a wedding reception. There is an open bar. You see a glass of single malt whiskey.
Scenario A: The Dry Drunk (Willpower). You stare at the glass. Your mouth waters. You have to physically clench your fists. "I want it. But I can't have it." You spend the whole night feeling deprived. You are miserable. Why? Because the "Rasa" (Taste/Desire) is still there. You are just suppressing it. One bad day, and you will drink that glass.
Scenario B: The Higher Taste (Param Drishtva). You look at the glass. But you also look at your life.
You remember the mornings waking up in vomit. The lost jobs. The broken relationships. And then you look at your Clarity today. The joy of waking up fresh. The trust of your family. The connection to your Soul.
The Clarity is the "Higher Taste." Compared to that Clarity, the whiskey looks like dirty water.
You don't feel "deprived." You feel "protective." "Why would I drink that poison and ruin this bliss?"
You walk past the bar without a struggle. The addiction is not fought; it is outgrown.
