Translation

अनुवाद

English

A person who has given up all desires for sense gratification, who lives free from desires, who has given up all sense of proprietorship and is devoid of false ego—he alone attains real peace.

Deep Reflection

गहन चिंतन

The Peace Protocol.

Krishna summarizes the "How-To" of Peace in four bullet points. If you want Shantim (Peace), you must drop four heavy bags you are carrying.

1. Vihaya Kaman (Give up Desires). 2. Nihspriha (Give up Craving/Thirst). 3. Nirmama (Give up "Mine-ness"). 4. Nirahankara (Give up "I-ness" / Ego).

If you drop these, you don't "find" peace. You ARE peace.

Nirmama (No Mine-ness)

"Mama" means "Mine." "Nirmama" means realizing nothing is yours.

You don't own your house; you are a guest in it. You don't own your body; you are renting it from nature. You don't own your family; they are souls on their own journey.

When you stop owning things, you stop fearing the loss of them. Ownership = Anatomy of Anxiety.

Nirahankara (No I-ness)

"Ahankara" is the False Ego. The idea that "I am the Doer." "I built this company." "I won this game."

Nirahankara means realizing you are just a wave in the ocean. The ocean moves you. When the "I" disappears, the pressure disappears. Who is there left to be stressed?

Nihspriha (No Thirst)

Spriha is a deep, itching craving. "I NEED it."

Nihspriha is the cool satisfaction of a man who just drank a gallon of water. He looks at a coke advertisement and feels nothing. He is quenched.

Carati (He Walks/Lives)

Again, Krishna uses dynamic words. "Carati" (He moves/wanders). He is not a statue. He walks through the market, the office, the home. But he walks Light. He has no luggage (Ego/Mine-ness).

Shantim Adhigacchati

He attains Peace. Peace is not a prize at the end. Peace is what remains when the noise (Desire/Ego) stops. It is your factory setting.

What This Means for You

व्यावहारिक ज्ञान

Play the "Renter" Game. Treat your life like an Airbnb. Enjoy the amenities, take care of them, but remember you don't own them.

Drop the "I". When you succeed, say "Grace." When you fail, say "Lesson." Don't let the "I" take credit or blame.

Identify the "Mama". What are you terrified of losing? That is where your "Mine-ness" is attached. Loosen the grip.

Live With It

The Monk in the Marketplace (The Emperor).

Volume 1: The Mall (The Trap): You are walking through the biggest, shiniest Shopping Mall in the city. It is a machine designed to trigger "Spriha" (Craving). Giant neon signs scream "50% OFF!" The smell of warm cinnamon rolls and brewing coffee attacks your nose. Mannequins wear clothes that promise to make you look like a movie star.

The Beggar (Kama-Kami): Most people walking around you are hungry ghosts. Look at their eyes. They are scanning, searching, wanting. "I want that watch. I need those shoes. If I get that phone, I will be happy." They are Beggars. They are holding out their empty cups, begging the Mall to fill them with happiness.

The Emperor (Nihspriha): Now, look at yourself. You are the Sage. You walk through the same Mall. You see the watch. You think: "Nice engineering." You smell the candy. You think: "Pleasant smell." But you don't reach for your wallet. You don't feel a magnetic pull.

Why? Not because you are broke. You have the money. But because you are Full. You are carrying a Diamond (Inner Peace) in your pocket. Why would you trade your Diamond for plastic trinkets? The Mall changes from a "Menu of Hunger" to a "Gallery of Art." You can enjoy looking at the toys, but you don't need to take them home to feel complete.

A Question to Sit With

चिंतन के लिए प्रश्न

"What are you holding onto so tight that your knuckles are white? Can you switch to "Tenant Mode"?"
